British Flowers and How to Work with Them: A Professional Course for Florists and Floristry Students

This year, we've teamed up with professional flower growers, Featherstone English Flower Co. to offer a series of two-day courses for each season, each of which dives deep into everything you might need to know about working with British flowers.

Each two-day course is available separately or you can attend all courses for a 10% discount.

The price for the courses is £570 per season (two day class)

or £2050 for all four seasons.

Each season brings both beauty and challenges for both growers and florists alike, and each seasonal class will give you the knowledge to create beautiful designs and work confidently with British flowers.

If you attend more than one course, you will see the transition of a working flower farm through the seasons, and go over a broad mix of floristry techniques.

Book All Seasons

11th & 12th May 2023

(two day course)

The Spring session will see you touring the farm, learning about the different sources of cut material in the UK, cutting and conditioning Spring blooms. The floristry element will include demonstrations from Sarah alongside creating table centres and bouquets which you will photograph and take home. On the second day, we will be discussing how to price correctly for different styles of arrangement and put all of your designs together to create an impressive banquet tablescape.

17th & 18th August 2023

We will be harvesting stems from the flower field and seeing the huge variety of flowers available at that time. We will discuss how to approach flower farmers and what to expect from the different types of supplier. Sarah will be demonstrating large urn arrangements and we will discuss costing. The second day will see you creating meadow boxes and kokedama (which you can take home) before bringing all the designs together into one spectacular installation, for which there will time for photography.

For Autumn we will be looking into using colour and texture in bouquets then working as a team to create arch installations. After a tour of the field and harvesting stems to be used for your designs, we will be looking into speciality Autumn flowers, where and how to source them. As well as giving guidance around costing large installations, and a practice at doing it yourself, we will be discussing some of the administrative details regarding the installation of large designs.
