Looking back, learning, celebrating and moving forwards

2016 was phenomenal for Floribunda Rose, we got up earlier, went to bed later & worked harder than ever before to deliver more beautiful work further afield for our couples on their big days!

Highlights of 2017 included being asked to do the floral design for one of my best friends in the world who had a 3 wedding kind of affair,

Making an 8ft x 8ft flower wall and  a full floral arbour bursting with British garden roses and sweet peas ~ (which smelled as amazing as it looked)

Creating a eucalyptus explosion and hanging the most beautifully scented wisteria arches from the ceiling for the most wonderful late Spring wedding… (More about those soon)

As well as one to one workshops and a baby naming day on the beach with Mumma and (beautiful) baby in matching floral crowns which I absolutely loved as well!

We were invited to Fulham Palace to collaborate on a photo shoot organised by Sundari of The Wedding Stylist, who had pulled together a seriously talented team of wedding industry folk and despite rain wind, snow & sunshine (it was literally all the seasons every five minutes!) we created some of my favourite designs of the year.

We were lucky enough to be featured in wedding magazines & have our work (and a career profile about me!) feature in some of our favourite blogs too… links here if you fancy a look.

The Green Eyed Girl

Behind the scenes I struggled with some personal issues. There were times I wondered if I could do it all to be honest, but with the best team in the world & a hugely supportive network of friends & family what didn’t kill me made me stronger.

My husband and I moved into our very own house & getting the keys to our own home felt absolutely amazing (right in the middle of wedding season of course).

I took some time out over Christmas (though to be honest I can’t ever sit still for very long) and reflected on what had been a challenging & hugely rewarding year where I discovered that life is as beautiful as it is brutal and that nothing lasts forever. It made me realise how important it is to tell those you love how much you do (and often) that for better or worse is in the vows for a reason and to always be grateful for what you have.

I had been contemplating the best way forwards for Floribunda Rose for a while as the business grew & grew and it became clear to me that a one woman approach just wasn’t going to be enough.

The more I thought about it the more obvious it became to me that what Floribunda Rose (and I) really really needed was a second Creative Director, an equal partner ~ someone as invested in the business as I am.

Lucy had worked with me over the summer so I knew that her work was truly beautiful, that she could work under pressure and that she was truly a ‘can do’ spirit like me. She brings years of floristry experience and PR skills with her alongside new energy and excitement to Floribunda Rose.

Lucy’s ethos and approach couldn’t be more in line with my own, it was obvious to me that she was the perfect person! Happily she didn’t have to be asked twice & is as excited about being a part of Floribunda Rose as I am.

So what can you expect to see change?… Well, not too much actually!

We remain committed to using artisan suppliers and building great relationships with local growers of British flowers to source the most beautiful flowers & foliages for our couples.

We will continue to be as ‘green’ as we possibly can be ~ I like to think of what we do as ‘Eco Luxe’ both elements are hugely important to me but the ecological nature of our business will always come first. Our intention is to create beauty whilst treading carefully as we go…

We are equal partners who are very much going in the same direction and intend to make Floribunda Rose the very best.

2017 promises to take us further afield. We’ll be heading down to Cornwall for a beautiful Spring wedding and to dress a wedding in a castle in Durham ~ at Christmas!!!

We’ll be flowering more local weddings (one in a vineyard!) in Hampshire and continuing to bring flowers to weddings in London and heading back to the gorgeous Syon House (that Conservatory is seriously stunning)…

I will be blogging about individual weddings next as I think it would be nice to give you an idea of our design process as well as showing you all the flowers. I will be blogging about the venues & suppliers we have had the pleasure of working with & sharing a few testimonials from our couples too.
